What is Reiki? Reiki is gentle body energy work originating in Japan by Usui Mikao sensei, Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
What Happens During A Session?
During the Reiki healing session the practitioner will place their hands lightly on or slightly above different parts of your body. Some Reiki practitioners will follow a predetermined sequence of hand placements, allowing their hands to rest on or slightly above each body placement for about 2 to 5 minutes, before moving on to the next. Some times more time at each placement is needed and the practitioner will be guided to stay there for as long as necessary.
Reiki energy is guided by the highest intelligence and always heals what is most important first. It will help to heal what the client is able to deal with at that time. It is like peeling back the layers of an onion. You cannot remove the bottom layer without first peeling back all of the top layers. Reiki energy, guides the practitioner as to what to do to bring the highest good to the client. The Reiki practitioner cannot promise the client any "specific" results since everyone is uniquely different in how they respond to the Reiki healing energies. But can promise that every person that experiences a Reiki treatment, receives healing benefits.

Because Reiki Energy is not limited by time and distance, Distant Reiki Healings can also be given without the client being present. It is easily done and works very well.
Distant healing can be done in different ways.
The practitioner can use a proxy, visualization or a projection of Reiki energy (beaming) or a combination of these methods.
One of the basic teachings of healing with Reiki is that we are more than our physical bodies. We also have an energy body made up of our aura (energy fields), the chakras (energy centers) and the meridians (energy pathways.) Like our physical body that takes in food to nourish it and give it energy, our energy body does the same. The energy fields take energy in, the chakras break it down, and the meridians distribute it throughout the body.
Our body is comprised of energy vibrating at different speeds. Our physical body, our thoughts, emotions, and our spiritual center, all vibrate at a particular frequency or speed. These varying vibrations or pulsations create a field around them which are often referred to as our aura or energy field. The aura is an information center and a highly perceptual system that transmits and receives messages from the external and internal environment.
Distant Reiki Healing may also be done at an appointed time that the practitioner and the healee agree on ahead of time. The healee agrees to sit or lie comfortably for an agreed amount of time (usually up to half an hour). The practitioner sends the Reiki Healing Energy during this time in the method that they are guided to use.
